Manta Staking Tutorial
Bware Labs Team
This is a complete guide on how to stake on Manta. Follow these steps to learn what staking on Manta means, how to stake your Manta tokens in three different situations, and how to make sure your transactions will be successful.
What is Manta?
Manta Network is a groundbreaking multi-modular ecosystem designed to facilitate the development and deployment of zero-knowledge (ZK) applications. Comprising two distinct networks, Manta Pacific and Manta Atlantic, this platform offers a diverse range of options for developers in the Web3 space.
Manta Pacific, operating as a Layer 2 ecosystem on Ethereum, provides a cost-effective and scalable gas-fee environment for ZK applications developed using Solidity, while Manta Atlantic, as the fastest ZK Layer 1 chain on Polkadot, introduces programmable identities and credentials to the Web3 landscape through zkSBTs.
Manta Network has garnered support from leading Web3 investment funds and has thrived in top Web3 accelerators. As a result, Manta Network is poised to lead the way in the next generation of Web3 development, ushering in a new era of Web3 zkApp applications.
What does staking $MANTA mean?
Staking Manta involves individuals or entities actively contributing to the validation and maintenance of the Manta Network by committing a specific amount of their Manta cryptocurrency holdings as collateral. In exchange for staking their Manta tokens, participants are often rewarded with additional Manta tokens or coins.
This staking mechanism plays a vital role in securing and decentralizing the Manta Network. It encourages stakeholders to actively engage in network tasks such as transaction confirmation and block validation. Staking not only allows crypto holders to contribute to the network’s security and reliability but also provides an avenue for earning passive income through staking rewards. As a result, it has become an increasingly popular choice for investors and enthusiasts within the Manta cryptocurrency ecosystem.
How to stake $MANTA
Below we will discuss three situations that you might encounter when wanting to stake on Manta. Please follow the steps for the one that suits you best:
- You want to buy $MANTA and stake
- Already have $MANTA from Tokensoft and looking at how to stake
- Already have $MANTA from NewParadigm and Into The Blue events and looking at how to stake
1. How to buy $MANTA and stake?
First, buy DOT on any of the CEXes you use. Then, withdraw DOT to a SubWallet DOT address: https://www.subwallet.app/
Bridge DOT from DOT to Manta Atlantic: https://app.manta.network/manta/bridge
Swap DOT for Manta on Manta Atlantic: https://mantadex.com/swap. Make sure to swap small amounts, ¼ of the total amount to make sure that the slippage is low. Then repeat this process.
After you are done with these steps, stake $MANTA here: https://app.manta.network/manta/stake. Make sure to save a couple of mantas for fees.
2. How to stake Manta if you already have it from Tokensoft?
If you participated in the Tokensoft sale, and received your tokens on polkadot.js, you can head to https://app.manta.network/manta/bridge.
There, click on “Connect Wallet”. Choose polkadot.js from the list of possible wallets, and bridge your tokens from DOT to Manta Atlantic.
Once the tokens are bridged to Manta Atlantic you can choose a collator from the list and stake your tokens: https://app.manta.network/manta/stake.
3. How to stake Manta if you already have Manta from NewParadigm and Into The Blue events?
In case you received Manta tokens through the events on Manta Pacific, you can go again to
https://app.manta.network/manta/bridge.
Connect your MetaMask, and connect your Manta Wallet or SubWallet and bridge from Manta Pacific to Manta Atlantic before heading to the staking page. Then, choose a collator from the list and stake your tokens: https://app.manta.network/manta/stake.
Congratulations! You are officially at the end of this tutorial, and you just learned how to buy and stake Manta.
