Lava Network is now live in GovScan

We’re excited to announce that Lava Network governance proposals are now trackable and can be voted on using Govscan!

Stakeholders can get notifications, vote, and follow Lava’s governance journey on GovScan, Bware Labs’ intuitive and comprehensive governance tracking platform designed to keep blockchain governance participants informed and engaged.

Governance is a cornerstone of the Lava Network’s decentralized ethos, empowering the community to collaboratively shape the future of the protocol. By giving every stakeholder a voice, governance ensures the network evolves in alignment with its users’ needs and priorities.

Lava Network Governance Model

Lava Network operates with an onchain governance system, which ensures every aspect of a proposal and voting process is fully transparent and tamper-proof. All governance activities—from proposing changes to casting votes—are recorded directly on the blockchain. This method provides a verifiable and immutable record, ensuring trust and accountability within the community.

With this governance model, the community collectively makes decisions on matters like network upgrades, parameter adjustments, and protocol specifications. Every vote counts, and every decision shapes the network’s trajectory.

The governance process is structured to ensure inclusivity and efficiency, with the following steps:

  1. Proposal Drafting: Community members can identify areas for improvement or necessary changes and draft a detailed proposal.
  2. (Optional) Proposal Discussion: Before moving onchain, members can share their drafts on the Lava Community Forum for feedback and refinement. For instance, check out the discussion around extending the vesting schedule for locked stakeholders.
  3. Deposit Period: Proposals require a minimum deposit of LAVA tokens to move forward. This deposit prevents spam and demonstrates the proposer’s commitment.
  4. Voting Period: All LAVA stakers, including delegators, can cast their votes on active proposals using options such as Yes, No, No with Veto, or Abstain.
  5. Tallying and Execution: After the voting period, results are tallied based on thresholds like quorum and veto percentages. If approved, proposals are implemented directly on-chain.
