The introduction of the Relational Blockchain marks a significant advancement in decentralized technologies, offering an innovative solution that integrates the robustness and sophistication of traditional database systems with the pioneering characteristics of blockchain technology. Chromia emerges as a key player in this domain, providing a relational blockchain platform designed to support decentralized applications.

Thus, in our mission of fostering innovation within Web3, we have joined forces with Chromia as Network Providers! The world of Chromia is teeming with innovation, fueled by powerful decentralized applications (dapps). But behind the scenes, there’s a crucial network of individuals and organizations playing a vital role: Chromia’s Network Providers.

These dedicated providers are the backbone of the Chromia ecosystem. They’re the ones responsible for running nodes, which are essentially the physical or virtual machines that power the network. Think of them as the workhorses, tirelessly processing transactions and ensuring the smooth operation of Chromia’s dapps.

Understanding Chromia – What are Relational Blockchains?

Chromia addresses the scalability challenges frequently encountered by dapps through its unique architecture, which is built around a network of relational blockchains. This approach facilitates a development environment that is readily accessible to developers globally, catering to a wide range of projects from extensive enterprise solutions and gaming applications to more specialized endeavors.

In essence, Chromia was designed to help with:

  • Facilitating the scalability of dapps to support millions of users.
  • Improving dapp user experiences to be competitive with centralized platforms.
  • Allowing developers to build secure applications using well-established programming practices.
  • In contrast to many blockchain platforms that depend on conventional virtual machine models, the specific requirements of Chromia’s relational data model necessitate a distinct approach. This has led to the development of Rell (Relational Language), a bespoke programming language tailored for dapp development on Chromia.

Many blockchain platforms opt for the use of various virtual machines for operation. However, conventional virtual machine architectures are not ideally suited for the Chromia relational data model, necessitating a method for encoding queries and operations. In response, Chromia has designed and introduced a new programming language known as Rell (Relational language) specifically designed for dapp development. Rell enables developers to efficiently define data models/schemas, queries, and procedural application code.

Rell code is compiled into an intermediate binary format intended for a specialized virtual machine. Chromia nodes convert queries from this format into SQL, ensuring safe translation, and execute the code as required through interpretation or compilation.

Chromia presents several benefits as a platform, making it suitable for a broad spectrum of dapps, particularly those requiring extensive I/O capabilities or sophisticated data management. It retains the core attributes of public blockchains, such as openness, security, transparency, and decentralization. Further insights into Chromia’s advantages reveal:

  • Flexibility in fee structures: Chromia enables developers to devise their fee models, ranging from paid subscriptions and feature-based charges to subsidization or selective application of gas fees. This flexibility aims to achieve a user experience on par with that of centralized platforms.
  • Rapid transaction processing: Chromia boasts transaction confirmation times of approximately 1 second, thanks to each dapp having its dedicated blockchain, managed by nodes employing an eBFT consensus mechanism.
  • Relational blockchain framework: Chromia’s relational blockchain technology combines the adaptability, versatility, and efficiency of traditional relational databases, supporting standard database operations and facilitating the execution of complex queries with greater ease and effectiveness.

Bware Labs x Chromia – A New Joint Effort

Our new collaboration with Chromia represents a significant development in the area of decentralized technologies, spotlighting the role of relational blockchain as a solution to the challenges of scalability and user experience that dapps encounter. This collaboration leverages Chromia’s cutting-edge platform, which merges the strengths of traditional databases with the transformative aspects of blockchain technology, positioning Bware Labs at the vanguard of innovation within Web3. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for this joining of forces!
